Hurricane Ian is bringing significant threats to areas of Tampa Bay and Florida’s Gulf Coast that don’t normally see such headlines, but they’re worth acting upon: Life-threatening storm surge and catastrophic winds and flooding are expected, the National Hurricane Center said.
As of the 2 a.m. advisory, Hurricane Ian remains a Category 3 storm and was located about 95 miles southwest of Naples, Florida, with sustained winds of 120 mph. Ian’s movement is north-northeast at 10 mph.
Hurricane Ian will approach the west coast of Florida on Wednesday morning and continue to move onshore.
