In this video, I show what Cayo Costa State Park, and in particular the Pelican Bay area looks like both before and after Hurricane Ian. I had filmed a family trip about a month before Hurricane Ian hit where we live in Southwest Florida, Cape Coral, and it was several months before we were able to go out and see what the island looked like with all of the damage.
To our amazement and joy, the island did pretty well. The sandbar has definitely shifted but it was still a lot of fun nonetheless. We are excited to see the continual improvement.
